First Dance at the Old Red Courthouse

Christina of MYLA Concepts (who makes the most delicious cake balls in town!) ordered this portrait as a gift for her husband for their 1st anniversary.  It is a watercolor on paper so it was a perfect choice because as you might know paper is the traditional first anniversary gift. Their wedding took place in the Old Red Courthouse in downtown Dallas. She sent me several picture of their first dance and requested I paint them dancing in front of the beautiful old courthouse. I thought it was wonderfully creative idea! While I struggled a bit at the beginning to get the proportions right so that they were big enough to be recognizable portraits without dwarfing the building, but in the end it turned out great.
