First Dance at the Old Red Courthouse

Christina of MYLA Concepts (who makes the most delicious cake balls in town!) ordered this portrait as a gift for her husband for their 1st anniversary.  It is a watercolor on paper so it was a perfect choice because as you might know paper is the traditional first anniversary gift. Their wedding took place in …

Christmas Home Tour Portrait for The Dallas Womans Forum

Each year since becoming a member of The Dallas Woman’s Forum I have been tasked with creating an illustration to advertise the Annual Holiday Home Tour. Each year is a new challenge to create something similar but unique to showcase the beautiful turn of the century mansion that The Woman’s Forum calls home.

Duke & Puccini, a Dachshund and a Yorkie

This portrait was a really fun one. Sometimes dogs aren’t very cooperative about having their picture taken, and it’s even more difficult to get a good picture of two dogs together. I put this together from a couple of different pictures to get a flattering portrait of both dogs.

Ring Drawings from Alice in Weddingland

Back in April I was invited to do some ring sketches at Groom Sold Separately’s Alice in Weddingland party. It was my first time doing this kind of live quick sketching so I was really nervous. Luckily it went remarkably well. All of the brides were nice and patient. And I got to see a …

American Traditional House in Lakewood

This 9×12 watercolor was done as a home buyer gift for a real estate agent. It was a difficult house to photograph. I took a lot of pictures before I found the right angle for the painting.

Art Marker Drawing of Gabi & Margee Rita

This is a 9×12 art marker portrait of Gabi and Margee Rita, a pair of golden retrievers. They are pictured in their Baylor therapy dog uniforms. I love their picture ID badges. I guess they have to make sure no unauthorized dogs sneak in!

Test Ring Drawings for Alice in Weddingland

Back in March I was invited by Amy Karp of Groom Sold Separately to feature my wedding services at their launch party, Alice in Weddingland. We came up with a great idea of doing quick sketches of their engagement rings for the brides-to-be in attendance. I did these ring drawings as practice to try to …

Spanish Colonial on Turtle Creek

This stunning Mediterranean manor was really difficult to photograph because it is east-facing and predominately white. That means in the morning it’s bathed in sunlight to the point that there is no shadows to help define the architecture, but in the afternoon it’s completely in shadow. It took me several trips at different times of …

Tucket, an oil portrait

I like to get an idea of the dog’s personality before I paint their portraits. When Tucket’s family told me her favorite activity is duck hunting it posed an interesting challenge for me. I wasn’t quite sure how to incorporate this into the portrait. I did several small sketches to get a better idea of …
