Continue reading »]]> In February I had the pleasure of attending Amanda & James’ wedding not only as a guest, but to create sketches as gifts. I sat with the bridal party as they had their hair and make-up done and drew sketches of them in their dresses. During the reception I finished the bridesmaid sketches, as well as the bride and groom. I also drew the bouquets & cupcakes. The original bridesmaid sketches were given to the ladies as gifts, but I made prints to frame in an assemblage for the bride and groom. Amanda and James were thrilled with the drawings, as was their wedding party!

Continue reading »]]> Last fall I traveled to San Antonio to paint Allie & Felipe’s wedding. Allie had her heart set on an outdoor wedding, but on the day of the event it was quite cold. They were able to have the ceremony outside, but the reception had to be moved inside. Allie really wanted the painting to be of the reception, but to have the greenery in the background. I was able to create that for her by painting in the background outside during the ceremony and the adding in the dancing guests during the the reception and later from pictures. She also brought pictures of her departed grandparents that she wanted me to include. They first went in as grey ghostly figures sitting on the bench, but they looked a bit creepy. In the final version they are less colorful and wearing 1940′s style clothing to differentiate them from the other guests. Allie and Felipe loved their painting so much they had me print it on custom thank you notes for them!

Continue reading »]]> This pair of 9×12 art marker portraits were commissioned by a wife as a gift for her husband. The lake houses are right next door to each other and one was remodeled to resemble the other. She chose art marker because she wanted the portraits to have the same casual, playful feel of the houses themselves.

Continue reading »]]> In October I got an e-mail from a mother-of-the-bride asking if I could come sketch the bridesmaids and house party while they were all getting ready at her house. I drew about 14 fashion sketches of the ladies in about 3 hours while they were getting their hair and make-up done and having some lunch. They were all very excited to take their sketch home as a bridesmaid gift!

Continue reading »]]> I was doing ring drawings at Debby Jewesson’s party to launch her new space for Branching Out and I met a super fun mom who was planning a masquerade themed sweet 16 party for her daughter and 6 friends. She later contacted me about doing portraits of the 7 guests of honor in their party masks for the invitations. It was a little difficult to coordinate getting photos of each of the girls in their masks which left me with a fast turnaround time, but I got it done. They are super cute & fun portraits. They not only made great invitations but they are wonderful keepsakes for the girls!
