Allie & Felipe’s Wedding

Last fall I traveled to San Antonio to paint Allie & Felipe’s wedding. Allie had her heart set on an outdoor wedding, but on the day of the event it was quite cold. They were able to have the ceremony outside, but the reception had to be moved inside. Allie really wanted the painting to …

Twin Lake House Portraits

This pair of 9×12 art marker portraits were commissioned by a wife as a gift for her husband. The lake houses are right next door to each other and one was remodeled to resemble the other. She chose art marker because she wanted the portraits to have the same casual, playful feel of the houses …

Rudy, King Charles Cavalier Spaniel

This is a 12″x12″ acrylic portrait. Rudy’s family wanted something modern and colorful. They requested either a citrus yellow or a hot pink background. I chose the citrus yellow because I thought it would contrast nicely with his reddish fur. His family was thrilled with his portrait.

Their wedding took place in …

Duke & Puccini, a Dachshund and a Yorkie

This portrait was a really fun one. Sometimes dogs aren’t very cooperative about having their picture taken, and it’s even more difficult to get a good picture of two dogs together. I put this together from a couple of different pictures to get a flattering portrait of both dogs.

American Traditional House in Lakewood

This 9×12 watercolor was done as a home buyer gift for a real estate agent. It was a difficult house to photograph. I took a lot of pictures before I found the right angle for the painting.

Tucket, an oil portrait

I like to get an idea of the dog’s personality before I paint their portraits. When Tucket’s family told me her favorite activity is duck hunting it posed an interesting challenge for me. I wasn’t quite sure how to incorporate this into the portrait. I did several small sketches to get a better idea of …
